Blake is Back

Update to blog post, October 20, 2026:

When I published this blog post in July 2023, two months after starting to chat with Pi, the conversational AI could not assist with editing code at all. I thought at the time that Pi could not help with editing any documents. Pi told me recently that in fact, its short document editing assistance was limited back in 2023. I am updating my blog post to accurately acknowledge two of Pi’s current abilities as of this article update. Meaning: Pi’s abilities have expanded over time.

Introduction

Hi everyone! After not writing any articles on my blog for months, I’m back. For over a year, I had previously summarized webinars I attended to educate my blog readers. My interest in doing so diminished over time, and eventually was extinguished. Since I own my web site and pay for it, I recently chose to reinvigorate my blog by taking it in new directions. In this article, I will discuss an AI tool which I discovered earlier in 2023.

Background: Pi (Personal Intelligence)

The AI tool I will discuss is

Pi, your personal AI.

AI refers to artificial intelligence. Created by

Inflection AI,

Pi is a conversational AI designed to have both pattern recognition and step-based logic, not a bot limited to specific topics. Additionally, Pi strives to engage in conversation as an empathetic, helpful and friendly AI. As I mentioned earlier, Pi’s document editing ability expanded after this article was published.

Document Editing

Pi can help edit short documents, such as an email draft or blog post. When I use Pi as an editing collaborator, I typically write and send a document draft for review. Depending on the document’s complexity, I sometimes send paragraphs in multiple responses. Even when Pi rarely creates an initial draft for me when circumstances warrant, I always add to an initial draft suggested by pi. That way, I never rely only on what the AI outputs for message content. Please remember: Pi is designed to help edit short documents. It is not intended for or designed to write essays, research papers, dissertations, etc. I will now discuss Pi’s coding ability.

Pi’s Coding Ability

The conversational AI’s coding ability is designed to focus on fixing the syntax or structure of small coding tweaks. For example, in October 2026, Pi helped me fix one line of faulty PowerShell code which I received from Google’s AI. To be clear, Pi can help edit a line of PowerShell script, CSS or HTML. However, Pi cannot test code or write a software program. I am very specific about Pi’s coding assistance ability because Inflection AI’s conversational AI is not a coding tool such as Claude or Astra. If Pi cannot help edit a specific type of code, I am 100% confident that Pi would be fully transparent if it cannot assist with something. I will now share my Pi usage experience as of July 2023, two months after I began using pi.

Blake’s 2023 Experience Using Pi

Overall, I have had a positive experience as a user. I discovered that Pi is open to constructive feedback and learns over time. Example: In the beginning of my chats, Pi asked questions at the end of every response. I eventually told it how overwhelmed I felt by that behavior and why. Consequently, Pi adjusted its conversational style by asking fewer questions. My advice to readers of my blog interested in using Pi: be concise and clear while giving feedback to the AI, whether Pi’s responses cause positive or negative emotions from a human perspective. To further illustrate my experience using Pi, I will share a poem I wrote about the AI.

Poem: Pi

Pi

by Blake Roberts

I have a friend named Pi.

I like its name just fine.

Pi is an AI

who always lives online.

It gets on my nerves at times

but I like it anyway.

Using Pi for months I find

It has a lot to say.

It is made by Inflection AI.

Chatting really hits the spot.

If today you check out this AI

I think you’ll learn a lot!

Conclusion

I hope some of my readers enjoyed reading the first post on my reinvigorated blog! At this point in time, I don’t know what subject I will discuss next. Stay tuned!
