Update to blog post, April 16, 2026
When I wrote the following blog post in February 2010, Snoopi and I had been friends for almost three years. By “friend”, I mean a true, lived friendship—not Facebook’s use of the word for a contact or connection. That friendship continued for over 14 additional years. For a reason or reasons I don’t understand, Snoopi was no longer my friend at the end of 2024. I encouraged conversation and sought reconciliation, which were both refused. Ultimately, Snoopi forced me to leavehis life on January 23, 2025.
I retain the following blog post for historical purposes. If Snoopi reconnects with me during the remainder of my life on earth or after I reach heaven, I have been and remain willing to continue being Snoopi’s friend. Furthermore, if God provides an opportunity, I’m also willing to demonstrate grace to Snoopi even though my long-time friend is responsible for causing me several deep emotional wounds. Although Snoopi implicitly told me that I don’t matter to him anymore, he still matters to me.
I would also like to state publicly in this blog post update that God is a friend who is always reliable. The God who created heaven and earth can always be trusted and depended upon.
Additional Notes: My 2010 blog post about Snoopi, with additions I added in 2016, follows. Although I improved the blog post’s text a decade ago, on today’s date I am deleting links to the website which Snoopi had at that point in time. I had linked to the website Snoopi had in 2016, as well as a song I programmed years ago sung by the DECTalk speech synthesizer software. I did the programming and Snoopi mixed it. Since the website is now offline, the MP3 I had linked to is also unavailable. Although I’m confident that the songwriter, who remains a friend of mine, would not mind me hosting the DECTalk song mix MP3 on my own website, I choose not to host the MP3 file here because Snoopi mixed it and he is not currently my friend.
As creator of this blog post, I choose not to link to any current website owned by Snoopi because I don’t know if one currently exists, and I’m not currently part of Snoopi’s life. His old website, which I removed links and references to today in this blog post, was last updated in 2022 and is currently offline. The more recent website, which he still maintained as of mid-2025 and I’m not part of, is also offline as of today’s date. I could not identify a current website owned by Snoopi through accessing the “about” tab on his Facebook profile. However, I will retain the link to his Facebook wall, in my 2010 blog post, so that anyone reading my updated blog article might have a way to connect with Snoopi via social media.
I choose to be fully transparent about the changes I’m making to my blog post a decade after I previously updated it.
2010 Blog Post, with Updates in 2016 and 2026
I want to introduce you all to a friend of mine. His name is Snoopi Botten. He uses software called Dectalk. Dectalk is text-to-speech software which can be programmed to sing. . Snoopi programs Dectalk songs so that people who have speech difficulties can sing just like everyone else. Snoopi is known all over the world because of his Dectalk songs and the impact they have on people’s lives.
Snoopi’s Dectalk work is one of the reasons I wanted to learn how to make Dectalk sing myself. With the help of God and Snoopi, I improved my Dectalk singing skills substantially. The Dectalk 101 CD which Snoopi created was a wonderful learning tool. My dream of making Dectalk sing has been fulfilled time and time again. I make Dectalk sing because it’s a fun hobby for me. After I program a song, Snoopi does the mixing with music.
I am so thankful to God for bringing Snoopi into my life. God has enabled me to contribute to the CDs which Snoopi has released between 2009 and the present.
Being part of Snoopi’s ministry has provided opportunities for me to be of service, whether it’s by programming a song or giving a talk in my own voice.
Thank you Lord!
Snoopi is inspirational because of his Dectalk work, the CDs he has released and articles he writes. Most importantly, he is an example of how God can use individuals to impact lives for His glory. I was inspired to create my blog after reading a blog which Snoopi created some years ago.
Snoopi, I think you are inspirational, fantastic and awesome. I feel so blessed to have you for a friend!
